lindsay lohan in downtown La La Land

Thing here is LA LA Land can be alittle crazy. Today was nothing new. I step out my door and there is a big group of people standing around. I thought someone was hurt. Then it looked like it was a illegal photo shot ,it happens all the time. When they do a low budget fashion shoot, or movie, but no it was Lindsey Lohan and a poor looking batman. weird I don't know what movie she is doing next, but god help her it that is the co-star.

holiday emptiness

During the holidays in downtown Los Angeles it is like a ghost town. The streets are empty and you can run around with the whole place to yourself. On any traveling holiday la la land empties out, which shows you how many people are not from here. There are very few native Angelinos. Even the bums seem to disappear. There are fed at the shelters and given clothes and other things so they are more condensed in the skid row area. I always have a small break down this time of year. I have a lot of people in my family that I send presents to, but I don’t know a lot about them. Which makes it very hard to shop for. They really don’t need a present from me it’s just the guilt gets to me. Are they going to send me something? If I don’t send them something them I feel bad. It boils down to people are not really honest with others this time of year. We are all adults be we going on with this crazy thing about having to give gift even though deep down it’s really a waste. I really would rather if I going to send to money give it to a charity like Heifer International. Giving someone in a 3rd world country a goat seems better then giving my aunt who I don’t see a scarf that she won’t wear. Then compounding the problem by her giving me something that will just fill my house up with “things”

she-males

Life in LA LA Land can be broken down in to what you would like to see, in certain areas there are a large concentration of different types of people. If you want to see homeless people of all shapes and sizes then downtown is your place. If you would like to see tourist, and character from t.v then go to Mann's Chinese theatre. In 2 blocks of Mann's today we got to see wonder woman, snoopy, a Genni, and Micheal Jackson (he was looking a little rough, the bankruptcy must not be going well). Just a few blocks from there was the place that I forgot existed. Santa Monica , land of men dressed as women. there was some good examples and some scary "women" I'm all for dressing the way that you would like but put a little effort in to it. there was one "girl" on the bus that looked like the killer from "silence of the lambs" but with the biggest and not combed out blond wig. I know that it can't be easy to try to leave the house as a woman when you are not, but some effort would be nice for the people that have to ride the bus with you.

it's a small art world..

The art world is a very small community. We for the most part know a lot of the other gallery owner and what they do. The reason that I’m bring this up is that when a artist acts badly or worse “screws” over a gallery the word gets around to the other owners. I have told horror stories about bad artist and the stunts that they pull over a beer with my fellow gallery owners. (yes, we name names) This is something to keep in mind when dealing with a gallery. A relationship can go along way in the art world. Pick your battles. Do you really want to tell a gallery owner that they suck? Is it worth those 3 seconds of blowing up to being branded a difficult artist? My advice is it is best to let things lie with most galleries. Because if they really do suck they will be out of business soon enough, and you have learned a lesson and can go on with your life.
The black lotus blog will be a mix of the things that I do. I'm kind of a jack-of all trades and do jump around alot with the things that I like to do. I like knitting and the fiber arts. I'm working on a ceramics career. I own and operate a art gallery in downtown Los Angeles. That alone is a world of weirdness that happen all the time. I also like to give advise- don't we all. but I will be talking about what my ideas are about what artist can do to make a career out of doing there art. I like to call that part of the blog "so you want to be a artist" I will be writing my little insights about the gallery and artist side of what works and what doesn't work in being a artist.
